Somerset Day Shindig and the Grand Opening

Shindig grand opening fireworks

We can honestly say that the hard work in preparing for the Shindig and Grand Opening of the Maidenbrook Country Park certainly paid off! The Park looked amazing and the day dawned bright, sunny and welcoming. A huge thanks is owed to the wonderful group of volunteers and staff who worked so hard to make this day enjoyable for all.

There were activities for the young, or young at heart, from Vagabond Events in our Forest School area, as well as opportunities to showcase emerging and established talent on the stage. It was a personal pleasure for many of the Park volunteers to hear Shannon, from Vagabond Events, recite her story of Maidenbrook Country Park, creating an imaginative and captivating fairytale of the soul of the Park, hinting at the personalities and priorities behind it. What a lovely surprise!

Along with delicious offerings of a range of tasty curries, visitors also enjoyed the opportunity to tuck into a hog roast and later an afternoon tea to round off the day. With more live music to while away the evening, the night was later capped by a lighting of the beacon and a flurry of fireworks.
